An Introduction to the Political Theory Of Thomas Hobbes

Thomas Hobbes was a prominent English philosopher of the 17th century, widely regarded as one of the founders of modern political philosophy. His most famous work, "Leviathan," presents a comprehensive theory of the nature of the state, the origin of political authority, and the role of the individual in society. Hobbes's political theory is rooted in his broader philosophical view of human nature, which he famously described as "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short." In Hobbes's view, humans are fundamentally self-interested and competitive, driven by a desire for power and survival.
